Old School Training

In bodybuilding the competition is always evolving as new ideas and studies come out. All aspects of the sport are constantly changing wether it's the training, nutrition, supplementation, posing techniques, or even the PEDs and doses being used. Interestingly though in natural bodybuilding athletes often look the past for inspiration because steroids were less prevalent then and the Mentzer method is a great example of a golden era training style that has regained popularity today. A less known body builder that I find really interesting is the bronze era legend Billy Ralph. The bronze era was before German scientists discovered anabolic steroids so it would have been impossible for him not to be natural yet his physique would still be extremely competitive against natural body builders today. What's most interesting to me about Billy Ralph is his training, in conjunction with his resistance training he used a training method called Maxalding Muscle Control, this was a series of isometric almost yoga like techniques. Although there's not a lot of research on it and this isn't something very popular today I'm really curious if this style of training could actually be better for natural athletes looking to achieve muscular hypertrophy.
